TradeZella Alternatives in 2026: Where to Backtest a Crypto Strategy When You Need More Than a Journal

TradeZella is built around a trading journal, and its pricing page now sells AI backtesting too. If you are looking for a TradeZella alternative because you want to test crypto strategy rules before you trade them, the choice comes down to how you write rules, which markets you test and how you pay.
This comparison covers three options next to TradeZella: Backtrex, TradingView with its AI Copilot add-on, and CoinQuant. Every claim comes from each vendor's own pages, captured on 8 October 2026.
We include a section on where TradeZella is still the better pick, because for some traders it is.
Why TradeZella Users Look for Alternatives
TradeZella's core is the journal: you connect your accounts, and it logs and reviews the trades you have already taken. Its pricing page now describes "One AI trading partner that journals, backtests, and reviews every session".
Journaling and backtesting answer different questions. A journal tells you how you traded; a backtest tells you how a set of rules would have traded before you risk money on them. Our earlier comparison of CoinQuant vs TradeZella covers that split in detail.
Traders who mainly want the second job tend to look for a dedicated strategy tester, especially one that accepts rules in plain English.
How We Compared: Method and Sources
We read each vendor's own pages and compared them on five points:
- Rule entry: how you describe a strategy (plain English, chart marks, code).
- Backtest type: automated runs, manual bar-by-bar replay or both.
- Markets stated: only what the vendor's page says, nothing inferred.
- Price model: subscription, add-on or one-time licence.
- Trial: whether the page offers a free start.
Prices are quoted only where we captured the vendor's own pricing page. Where a page does not mention something, we say so rather than assume it is missing.
Last updated: 8 October 2026. Vendors change plans often, so check each pricing page before you buy.
What TradeZella Offers Today
TradeZella's pricing page lists automated AI backtesting under the heading "Backtest in Plain English": "Write your trading rules in plain English and Zella runs them across years of historical data in minutes." Access depends on the plan.
| TradeZella plan | Listed price (as of 8 October 2026) | Yearly option (as listed) | Automated AI Backtesting (plan card) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $35/mo | $26/mo, billed $315 / year | Not included |
| Pro | $59/mo | $44/mo, billed $531 / year | 10 automated runs / month |
| Ultra | $99/mo | $74/mo, billed $891 / year | 100 automated runs / month |
Prices are quoted as TradeZella's pricing page showed them on 8 October 2026, and they can change. One comparison table on the same page shows "(1 free run)" for Essential, so check how that applies before you rely on it. TradeZella also offers manual backtesting, described as "Backtest Bar-by-Bar: Place your own entries and exits against 11+ years of historical data", and its feature table lists "Stocks, Futures, Crypto, CFDs" for manual backtesting.
The page does not say which markets the automated AI backtests cover. If crypto is your main market, confirm that with TradeZella before choosing a plan for AI backtesting.

Backtrex says you can "Paste your Pine script or describe your strategy in your own words", or mark trades on a chart and let it infer the strategy. It sells a "One-time payment, no renewal" licence, and its page says creating an account and running your first backtest "are free, no credit card". Its data comes from Dukascopy.
TradingView announced that "AI Copilot is now available as a separate add-on for every paid TradingView plan". Copilot can "Write and apply Pine Script", and the add-on "renews monthly". If you already chart on TradingView, this keeps your work in one place; our CoinQuant vs TradingView comparison covers Pine Script in more depth.

Where TradeZella Is Still the Better Pick
If your main job is reviewing trades you have already placed, TradeZella is built for it and the alternatives here are not. Its pricing page lists "500+ broker and prop firm integrations" and, on the Pro and Ultra plans, a Trade Replay feature for stepping back through past trades and sessions.
TradeZella is the better pick when:
- You journal first: you want every executed trade imported and reviewed.
- You review sessions: replaying your own sessions matters more than testing new rules.
- You trade several markets: its manual backtesting lists stocks, futures, crypto and CFDs.
CoinQuant is built for the other job: testing rules before you trade them, not journaling trades you have already placed.
Where CoinQuant Fits
CoinQuant, an AI trading platform, fits traders who want to describe a crypto strategy in plain English and see how its rules would have performed. You type the idea, and CoinQuant turns it into a strategy you can read and edit, with each condition shown as a block in the builder.

The CoinQuant strategy builder: describe a crypto strategy in plain English and it becomes rules you can read and edit before you backtest.
Each backtest models fees, which can be set per order as maker and taker fees, and since April 2026 the equity curve includes a Buy and Hold line, so you can see whether the rules beat simply holding the coin. Interactive TradingView-style charts plot the entries and exits on the price action (changelog).
For example, SOL ROC(90) Momentum 1D 2021-2026 is a saved library strategy that buys SOLUSDT when the 90-day Rate of Change crosses above zero and exits when it crosses below zero. Its Performance tab opens with a summary card of the main metrics, all after fees.

SOL ROC(90) Momentum 1D 2021-2026 on SOLUSDT daily, 2021-08-01 to 2026-08-01: the CoinQuant Performance tab summary card, with Total Return, Win Rate, Sharpe Ratio, Profit Factor, Max Drawdown and average trade after fees.
On pricing, CoinQuant's changelog announced weekly plans and "a 3-day free trial for paid plans" in May 2026. Today the pricing page lists two paid plans, Pro and Elite, each billed weekly, monthly or yearly with a Start Free Trial button.
The Practical Lesson
- Match the tool to the job: journal what you traded, backtest what you plan to trade.
- Check how rules go in: plain English, chart marks and Pine Script suit different traders.
- Read the plan table: on TradeZella, the plan cards list automated AI backtests on Pro and Ultra only.
- Confirm the market: if a page does not state crypto coverage for a feature, ask before you pay.
Many traders will use two tools: a journal for execution and a strategy tester for ideas. If testing crypto strategy rules before you trade is the gap, start there.
Build trading strategies on real data. No coding required.
